Over the past three months, the Specialized REITs industry has been one of the top growth leaders in the S&P 500 index, up 19.4%.
The largest (by market capitalization) companies in this industry: American Tower ($109.5B), which owns and operates more than 220 thousand cellular towers around the world, and Equinix ($76.9B), which operates 260 data centers in 71 countries.
According to the latest quarterly reporting data, we analyzed each company’s profitability, strength, and efficiency criteria according to the methodology of Stanford University professor Joseph Piotroski.
As you can see, in terms of fundamental data, both companies are currently performing quite strongly. However, American Tower is superior to Equinix in terms of efficiency and sustainability.
Over the past 3 months, American Tower’s shares have risen by +30.6%, while Equinix’s have risen by +15.4% (the S&P 500 index has risen by +5.5%). American Tower has outperformed its closest competitor and demonstrated better results compared to the index.
So, the winner in today’s battle is American Tower (AMT). American Tower’s shares show better profitability and prevail in terms of liquidity and asset turnover.
